A short-lived plan

In the history of my short-lived ideas this could be a record.

For action and event shots I use a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR S lens on a Z7 body.

I also have a 2x tele-converter that gives me a 400mm f/5.6 equivalent. It all fits in a motorcycle-friendly backpack and I am well-pleased with the results - per sample pic.

In fact many pundits rate this as the best 70-200 lens ever - it's a gem. The bigger hole that mirrorless affords really does make a difference to native Z lenses.

For portrait shots and statics I generally use a 50mm f/1.8 S prime.

But when I saw online that Nikon have dropped a 400mm Z Series prime I thought, "Oooh, that's interesting!"

But not for very long.
